# 55 - ROADMAP TO HEALTH - Black Drawing Salve

As a young child I remember having a sore, ugly boil on the inside of my arm. Our family visited relatives for a weekend and my great-auntie Em applied something called black drawing salve on the boil. In the morning my Dad gently and patiently squeezed the boil like one would a pimple. The inside of the boil slowly came out just like a pimple would ooze.

Life marched on and about 60 years later I tripped over a "recipe" for black drawing salve. This took me back to that weekend and I realized this product was no longer common in a family household.

Knowing just how great black drawing salve was, I decided to manufacture the salve and test it out. Now it is a common remedy found in our household cabinet to remove splinters, pimples, boils, and actually anything stuck in our stubbornly in our skin.

It's messy, yes, but it works. I simply put a small amount on a band-aid at bedtime, apply it to the skin issue and in the morning it is commonly less sore or even gone!

Here is the recipe if you prefer to make your own batch:

Gather equal parts of...

  • Activated charcoal powder

  • Unsalted butter (preferrably GHEE butter)

  • Beeswax

  • Pine tree resin

  • Camphor essential oil (added at the end process only)

In a double broiler mix all ingredients together (less the camphor essential oil) and heat until mixed well. When fully melted and mixed well, remove from heat. Add the Camphor essential oil and mix well again.

Put in small jars and store in a cool, dry place.
