DREAMING

When I left my (dysfunctional) marriage I had so many dreams, not only for myself, but for my children as well. It was my intention to pave the way, for my children, into a better life. It was important for me to teach my children that family life was meant to be loving, caring and kind. Not critical, angry and destructive.
For me, I was dreaming of a loving, peaceful home partnered with a career of helping people. However, I soon discovered to be careful with whom I shared my dreams. As a general rule, people are critical and negative.
The good intentions of people around me were flooding me with negativity. Once again I turned to research and soon discovered that many of the great leaders in our history were ridiculed and judged for their dreams.
All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them. ~~Walt Disney~~

This discovery gave me the strength to never give up on my dreams. While Walt Disney was seeking out investors to finance his dream of bringing “talking animals to the screen” he was turned down repeatedly. Very few people believed in him, in fact, many outright laughed at him. The most important factor was that he believed in himself and his dream. He did not allow the opinions of others destroy his dream. Nor did he allow any fear to get in the way of his success.
This encouraging research birthed within me new found strength and faith that “someday” my dreams would become a reality. During those years I persistently took baby steps towards my dream knowing full well that every step, however small, was an important stone I was laying in my foundation for the future.
When you decide to go for your dream you will have many well intended people try to talk you out of it. Their negative feedback can fuel your own negative Chatterbox within yourself. It is important to recognize the Chatterbox for what it is…the voices of people long past in your history. Just because someone said something to you, or about you, does not mean it is true.
It is important to believe in yourself, most especially when others refuse to believe in you. You must find a way to turn off other peoples opinions, period.
Someone's opinion of you does not have to become your reality. ~~ Les Brown~~
