Welcome to week #02 of the Roadmap to Freedom personal growth healing program! Did you complete week #01 Dare to Dream story? Sure hope so, we are using your dream life to create your goals and affirmations!
Honestly, when I decided to change my life decades ago, I was drowning in anxiety. My ex-husband (father of my children) seemed to consider it his part-time job to drive me insane. After years of abuse, I was living with very little self-worth and was in all likelihood depressed. Concentrating on helping my children through the turmoil, I also worked very hard at manifesting a new life. My dream was to live a life full of love, harmony and joy! Hope and faith can carry you a long way in your darkest days.
This program was birthed from the pinnacle of my healing journey when thrust into my own depths of despair. To me, giving up was not an option, I had to find a way out of my anguish!
You may, or may not, be feeling hopeless in your current life. Regardless, you too can use your dream life story to create personal goals and affirmations.
Reviewing your dream life story, begin to list your goals. The first step is to list the goals, the second step is to take those goals and number them, either in order of importance or in logical order (possibly taking both importance and logic into account).
Now you have a better understanding of your life goals. One-by-one look at each goal and determine if they are “short” or “long” terms goals. Take each of your goals and list them under a column of LONG term or SHORT term. Sometimes, the long-term goals will create a short-term goals. During this process it is important to once again hold judgement about whether you can reach these goals. Remember, you can begin with baby steps, leading to steps leading strides. The Roadmap to Freedom program will help you take these steps, one week at a time!
It is suggested you first list your long-term goals, for example:
LONG-term: (this is your final dream life)
Surrounded in love – family and/or friends
Earn an annual income of $40,000 or more
Own a dependable vehicle
Move into a new home, in the country where I can grow my own food
Live relatively stress free with my children
Have pets (dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, etc?)
After listing all your long-term goals, think about what you need to create your dream life. This will aid you in listing your short-terms goals.
SHORT-term:
How will you earn your annual income?
Do you need to further your education?
If so, research how to further your education
Begin the process of your education
What do you have to do to get a dependable vehicle?
If you are currently stressed, what can you do about healing your anxiety?
As with your dream life story, do not give too much thought about how you are going to do this. Do not judge! Changing your life will likely demand you jump out of your comfort zone. This is part of the Roadmap to Freedom program. Time will help you as you progress through weeks.
With your goals now listed, you can create affirmations to reinforce your hearts desires!
Affirmations help you focus on a positive outcome in your life. They can be used to help you remain positive on a daily basis while creating roots to make your dream life story a reality.
To make your affirmations strong and positive, here are some suggestions for you to follow:
Keep it short and simple
Write it in positive form
It is best to begin with phrases as, “I am”, “I am grateful”, “I love”, etc.
If you have a do not wish, twist the words into positive
Keep it in the present tense, as if it has already manifested
Use open statement, thereby, not accidentally limiting your wish
Create the statement with emotion
It is important to be patient with the process of affirmations. They usually do not manifest immediately, and negative self-talk or belief system can negate your progress. Do your best to believe and have faith that eventually you will create your new life. Again, never give up and remain determined. Try to enjoy the process and it might be beneficial to change your affirmations as you go along because, life can change your desires at anytime.
Let’s look at some sample goals and affirmations:
Sample Goal
Gain part-time employment as a “_________” earning a minimum of $25,000 a year
Sample Affirmation
I am thrilled to be working part-time earning an annual income $25,000 or more
Sample Goal
It is important for me to heal my body, mind and soul so I can become the best version of myself that I can be.
Sample Affirmations
I am thrilled to have optimal health
It feels great to feel worthy, confident and strong
The main focus is to make your affirmations short and direct, such as:
I am positive
I am loving, patient and kind
I am compassionate
I am forgiving
I am happy
I love myself
I love life
I am protected
I am loved
I am supported
It is believed that affirmations can have a powerful effect on your subconscious mind, otherwise known as your “Creative Mind”. Affirmations can actually brainwash your mind by making it believe you are already living what you desire, thereby using the power of the Universe to make it happen.
You can make your affirmations more powerful with emotion and visualization. Fact is, everything in your life has been created by your thoughts, feelings and actions whether you believe it or not. What you think about, you bring about. Negative attracts negative and positive attracts positive.
Staying on the positive side of things is key. It takes hard work and dedication to train your brain, it certainly will not happen overnight. Simply understanding this can be a step in the right direction. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.
Say to yourself, “If it is to be, it’s up to me!”
No one can change your life for you. It is your responsibility and yours alone to do the work. Make it fun…accept the challenge and go for it!
Now that you have a clear picture of your short-term and long-term goals together with your affirmations it is time to make affirmations create your new life.
The Process
Review your affirmations every morning and evening
As you are reviewing your affirmations do so quietly and alone
As you speak, or just think your affirmations, feel the emotions of how you would feel when this is a your true reality
At the end of the review, close your eyes and dream your dream for a few minutes
You can get creative in reinforcing your affirmations throughout the day as well. You can record your affirmations and listen to them while driving, walking or busy doing chores. You can post reminders (small cards or sticky notes) around your home, in your car or at work, etc.
When beginning this process be aware of your initial reactions. It may feel like you are lying to yourself. Don’t give up, never give up! The more you reinforce the affirmations, the more you will begin to believe them. The more you believe, the more you will achieve.
Honestly, what do you have to lose here? You certainly have more to gain. The fact that you are taking the time to read and follow this program indicates you don’t want to stay stuck in your life anymore. You want a better life and trust me, you can have it!
Once you are dedicating yourself to reviewing your affirmations daily, pay attention to your intuition, your gut feelings, and/or your positive thoughts about possible actions you can be taking. Action is required to create a new life. Life sometimes knocks us down making it a chore just to get through your day. Be prepared:
What can you do to keep motivated?
How can you keep focused on your goals?
Determination is a powerful tool.
How bad do you want a new life?
Remind yourself daily “why” you want to create a new life and do your best to take at least one small step towards your goals. That might mean reviewing your affirmations is the best you can do on any given day. Take that step daily, it’s better than no step at all. Then on a better energy day, take an action step, no matter how small or big that may be.
Faith can inspire you.
Hope can carry you.
You might have to skip a day or two, life can certainly get in the way. Forgive yourself and continue with your steps towards your goals when you can. Above all else, never, every give up. And remember, “If it is to be, it’s up to me!”
