This post is part of the series LIFE CRUTCHES
Life has a way of knocking us down from time to time, it's inevitable. The question is, do we crumble and fall or do we rise to the challenge. On social media I am seeing a great many posts of people asking, "when anxiety hits you, when stress is overtaking your body, how do you cope?"
I have personally used many tools over the years, here are a few links to previous blog posts:
This post offers a method I have created that has proven to help me dramatically. It does have the potential to raise your frequency fairly quickly - could be instantaneous, a few hours or after a nights sleep. It really is all up to you!
As mentioned in previous blog posts, I believe everything happens for a reason - good, bad or indifferent. Your state of mind is of equal importance. Do you believe yourself to be a victim of life, or do you see yourself as a target? For instance, when someone becomes angry then targets you in anger you may feel hopeless. You might feel that person is not being fair. You might get very emotional and angry yourself. Is someone trying to control you? Is anyone using manipulative tactics against you for their own personal gain? There are thousands of scenarios and emotions that cannot be be explained here.
It's important to recognize your reaction(s) and to understand you cannot control another person's actions, but, you can control your reactions! Did you know that another person's actions, or reactions, have everything to do with THEIR inner pain and absolutely nothing to do with YOUR actions? They might try to place the blame on you, you might try to blame them, but the cold hard truth is each person is responsible for THEIR own emotions and reactions. You can also review this Assert Yourself blog to learn how to set boundaries in any relationship and to help you understand the dynamics of unhealthy relationships (and we all experience them in our life).
Let's get back to how I have created my own unique way of raising my vibration back up to a level where I am feeling calm and relaxed when someone (or something) comes along to knock me down.
Getting knocked down lowers your vibration. It can take you from 100 to zero in a matter of minutes, if not seconds, depending on the situation. You might be reeling in emotions, your brain might be shutting down, you might feel devasted, you might want to run, you might want to use a previous adopted addiction as your crutch. We all have our coping strategies (addictions), such as emotional eating, smoking cigarettes, intake of alcohol, marijuana, or drugs (illegal or pharmaceutical).
Personally, the first thing I do these situations is isolate to help me heal. Removing myself from the situation, together with coping strategies) kick starts the healing. Since I live in a country setting, my immediate preference is to go for a walk through the forest, or down a back road that is also through the forest. If possible I make my way to my happy place, of which I have many (it's one of the first things I do when I move to new location - find my happy place with a preference given to Mother Natures forest and water). Here is a picture of my current happy place near my residence:

I will then begin the healing process as follows:
Step #1
Take a deep breath in (while saying I am inhaling peace and joy), hold the breath, then exhale (while saying I am exhaling stress and anxiety). You can inhale what you desire to destress your body, while exhaling the emotional stress and/or anxiety. Do this for a minimum of 3 deep breaths, more if necessary.
Step #2
I then sit with my emotions and complete some self-talk such as:
I acknowledge my emotions (then sit with the pain for a short period of time)
I surrender and release my emotions (let it all go - you can use your breath here as well)
Step #3
I then choose a prayer to recite (whichever resonates at the time, or can do multiple)

Wishing for you peace, joy and harmony in life!
